A look at the Toshiba Regza AV63 Series
The AV63 is a range of HD ready LCD TVs from Toshiba that are packed with gadgetry and features to enhance your viewing pleasure. This series is available in 32" 37" and 42" and are full HD LCD panels with a 1366 x 768 resolution. Lets take a look at what this new series has to offer.
Design
TV's are looking better and better each year, with profiles shrinking and 'chunkiness' being reduced with each series. The AV63 TVs have a noticably slimmed down profile, a stylish glossy black finish and narrow bezels around the edges. The speakers are slim and the look and feel of this TV is very contemporary.
Resolution+
With most of us still watching around half of our content in standard definition, Toshiba's AV63 series has Resolution+ on board to make DVDs, standard TV channels and downloads look a little closer to HD quality. Resolution+ upscales standard definition broadcasts and other content up to a much higher level, increasing detail, sharpness and all other aspects of image quality. While upscaling is never going to be as good as Blu-ray type quality, Resolution+ goes a long way to improving how SD content looks on LCD TVs.
Active Vision II
If you're splashing out on one of the AV63 range you'll get Toshiba's award winning Active Vision II techology. This deals with improving how images and fast moving action scenes appear on the screen. With Active Vision II colours are improved and you'll see a big difference in fast sports action. Images are clearer and more detailed and motion blur is greatly reduced.
AutoView Mode
A number of TV makers have a similar technology and it's a great idea. AV63 TVs use AutoView to constantly adjust the picture settings in real time, to suit both the content on screen and the lighting conditions in the room. This ensures that the image is always shown at the optimum level and is especially useful in dark scenes, where normally you'd have to manually adjust the settings to be able to see all the detail.
Gaming Mode
Whether you're a hardcore gamer or a casual Wii player, the AV63 series are designed to improve your performance and experience with games. There's a direct gaming channel that allows much faster interaction between the controller and your AV63. As well as reducing lag, Game Mode also adjusts the picture to cope with fast action scenes, and matches the action pixel for pixel. Unlike other TVs, you'll see the entire display, without any cropping around the edges. When you're trying to save the world on your screen, every advantage helps.
Other features
The Regza AV63s come with the usual line up you'd expect from a modern LCD TV. A freeview tuner is built in so you can access all the latest digital TV, without a set-top box. The sound is excellent, thanks to dolby digital+ audio technology. And the TVs also feature a spacious 4x HDMi connections, leaving enough room for consoles, Blu-ray players and anything else you need to connect. There's also a full power down button which saves on energy and for when you don't want to use standby.
